David is a Non-Executive Director of Whittle Consulting. He has worked in the mining industry for 35 years. He played a leading role in the establishment of the modern discipline of strategic mine planning as Business Manager and then Managing Director of Whittle Programming Pty Ltd, Director of Whittle Technologies Ltd, and Vice President Gemcom Software International Inc. In 2006, David joined BHP, becoming the company’s global Senior Manager of the Planning Leadership Program, for all mining and non-mining assets. In 2015, David took a career sabbatical to undertake PhD research in underground mine plan optimization. Since 2019, David has operated a boutique consulting practice through Whittle-DG and has been heavily involved in critical minerals research and advocacy, including a professorship at Monash University, where he cofounded the Critical Minerals Consortium and the Resources Trinity.
