ALLOYCORP MINING, AVANTI KITSAULT
Whittle Consulting undertook a Whittle Enterprise Optimisation (EO) study to improve NPV and provide validation of the Avanti Kitsault project in Canada. The new techniques and mine optimisation mechanisms determined by Whittle produced a 31.7% overall increase in NPV, above the best business case of the company.
ANGLO PLATINUM, MOGALAKWENA
Whittle Consulting conducted a Whittle Enterprise Optimisation (EO) study for the Mogalakwena operation in South Africa. The major objectives that were achieved for the asset, owned by Anglo Platinum included; deferring and/or minimising capital expenditure, the evaluation of alternative operating strategies, determination of optimal mining and concentrator processing rates and establishing the optimal production rate.
CONDOR GOLD, LA INDIA PROJECT
Whittle Consulting investigated strategic options to optimise the mine schedules to improve the economics of the La India projects in Nicaragua. The Whittle Enterprise Optimisation (EO) study determined; an NPV increase of over 50%, an IRR average of 30%, payback on upfront capital costs between 2-3 production years, gold production increase of (on average) 22% for the first 5 years with sustaining cash costs remaining under US$700per oz gold.
Whittle Consulting performed a Whittle Enterprise Optimisation (EO) study and strategic life-of-mine optimisation on the 9 ITM coal mining operations in Indonesia. In conjunction with ITM, 3 marketing and 2 business improvement scenarios were also prepared. The results of the study illustrated an initial 13% NPV net gain over the base case. With refinements of the optimised case, this was increased to 14%.
Whittle Consulting conducted a commercially-orientated review of the prefeasibility study designs and cost estimates of the Platreef, followed by a value chain optimisation and sustainability study. Although the results cannot be disclosed, they were financially significant. Revenue and cashflow were brought forward, NPV was significantly enhanced and the location of the most profitable ore body in the South African project was determined.
PANAUST, INCA DE ORO
Whittle Consulting conducted a Whittle Enterprise Optimisation (EO) study of the Inca de Oro project in Chile. The specific objective of the study was to increase NPV. Options around plant sizing and expansion timing, capital staging, scheduling, grind size selection and blasting intensity were evaluated. The Whittle EO study produced an 80.8% overall increase in pre-tax NPV, above the PanAust best business case. Impressively, the NPV increase was 116.8% for an expanded case, including the Carmen deposit.
SEMAFO, MANA GOLD
Semafo contracted Whittle Consulting to conduct an Enterprise Optimisation study on the Mana Gold operation in West Africa. The Whittle study showed how changes to cut-off value and stockpiling added 8% to NPV. By applying Theory of Constraints and Activity Based Costing, a further 16% increase in NPV was realised. The results were financially significant, improving cash flow significantly for the operation.
